Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arms control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
